Ribbons of Hope
The Art
Set within a grove of young maple trees along the Highlands Art & Tree Trail, Ribbons of Hope is a living and evolving installation dedicated to the many people and families affected by cancer. Dozens of trees are adorned with yellow ribbons bearing the names of loved ones and community members — each ribbon representing encouragement, compassion, hope, and human connection.
The installation was first created as part of the Snowshoe4Good fundraiser held in February 2026 at Duntroon Highlands Resort. Since then, it has continued to grow as new ribbons are added during community events hosted by The Village Foundation and its supporting partners. Visitors walking the Highlands Art & Tree Trail are also invited to contribute to the installation by requesting a yellow ribbon at the Clubhouse store when picking up their trail map.
The yellow ribbon was intentionally chosen as a symbol of hope, optimism, and solidarity for patients and families navigating cancer diagnoses. Moving gently in the wind beneath the canopy of the Escarpment forest, the ribbons create a powerful visual reminder of the strength found in community, kindness, and collective support.

The Artist
The Village Foundation is a community-driven organization based in South Georgian Bay that brings people together through sport, recreation, and shared experiences to support local cancer care and families affected by cancer. Founded through the lived experiences of local women navigating cancer journeys, the organization’s signature events — including Golf4Good, Pickleball4Good, and Snowshoe4Good — combine fundraising with connection, laughter, and community spirit. Through its growing network of volunteers, supporters, and partners, The Village Foundation continues to create meaningful ways for people to come together in support of hope, healing, and local cancer care.
